Stonehurst Place was owned by generations of the same Atlanta family for almost 100 years, and the fine bones of the original structure now house jewel-box pretty rooms and design treats like a vintage Hermes handbag collection. Owner Barb Shadomy’s sophisticated art collection is on display throughout the inn: look for works by Picasso, Candida Hoefer and Andy Warhol.
The modern-chic flair is nicely balanced by soothing Southern touches. There's a sleeping porch for reading or snoozing, English-style flower-beds in the garden and a gleaming baby grand piano in the music sitting room.
