Discover wilderness the way Teddy Roosevelt did.

What it's like

The morning mist rises over Blackwater Creek as horses gather at the corral, much as they have for over a century. Historic log cabins, built between 1915 and the 1950s, stand as monuments to the ranch's enduring legacy, while the surrounding wilderness remains as untamed as when President Roosevelt declared these 50 miles "the most scenic in the United States."

Independent spirit

Putting the wild back in the West.

Small touches

The authentic mountain cabins at Blackwater Creek provide a genuine connection to Western heritage. Each cabin features its own bathroom, plush bedding, and Navajo rugs. Rustic porches invite you to start your day with mountain views and end it under star-filled skies. For families and groups, the Ranch House provides additional comforts with two private bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and a cozy seating area with an inviting fireplace. Without televisions or cell service, you'll find yourself effortlessly tuning into the rhythm of ranch life.

Eat and drink

Gather in the lodge's dining room for hearty, home-style meals that fuel your daily adventures. Each breakfast, lunch, and dinner features locally inspired dishes and traditional ranch recipes. Meals here become more than just nourishment—it's a time to share stories and plan tomorrow's explorations.

And more

Ride on horseback through the spectacular Absaroka Mountains and along the Shoshone River, where each trail reveals new vistas. Summer evenings bring the excitement of the Cody Nite Rodeo, while spring and fall offer peaceful exploration of this historic Western town. Challenge yourself with 3D archery, get your thrills by white water rafting on the river, or cast a line in uncrowded waters—the ranch provides all the equipment you need.
