A Leavenworth mountain hideaway.
Nestled on 67 acres along Icicle Creek, Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort & Spa transforms Civilian Conservation Corps history into modern mountain luxury. This haven of environmental stewardship and elegant comfort sits in Washington's Cascade foothills, where world-class outdoor adventure meets wine country charm and a resort experience rooted in purposeful preservation.
Supporting Washington's environment and culture with every stay.
This property's transformation tells a story of thoughtful conservation. When Harriet Bullitt purchased the land in 1991, she preserved all 18 original Civilian Conservation Corps buildings from the 1930s rather than starting fresh. The barracks and structures that once housed 200 young men now welcome guests seeking connection with the mountains. Named after the mountain profile visible above the narrow valley, the resort honors its past while serving a greater mission through the Icicle Fund.
Where history finds its purpose.
Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort offers a unique collection of accommodations, from rooms with cozy alcoves or treehouse-like lofts to standalone cabins for a more secluded stay, with select options offering added features like private decks or kitchen spaces. No matter which you choose, each thoughtfully appointed lodging features hand-hewn log beds layered in down comforters, refrigerators and premium coffee, and private bathrooms complete with eco-friendly bath products and heated towel racks. Best of all, there are no televisions, making it easy to truly unplug and relax, plush bathrobes included.
Kingfisher Restaurant serves breakfast and dinner daily in a lodge-style setting with exposed wood beams, river rock accents, a roaring stone fireplace, and sweeping Icicle Canyon views. Seasonal menus highlight the freshest local ingredients sourced from regional farms, while summer brings al fresco terrace dining. A guest favorite, The Grotto Bar, offers local beer and wine plus innovative cocktails alongside tapas on Friday and Saturday evenings.
At Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort, time is meant to be spent outdoors or at ease. Hiking and biking trails begin right outside the property, weaving through gardens, forested paths, and a self-guided art walk tucked into the landscape. Onsite, unwind with a massage, facial, or jade treatment at Aspen Leaf Day Spa, or take a dip in the seasonal outdoor pool and hot tub. Saturday morning yoga, quiet spots for reading or picnicking, a lobby gift shop, and the Play Barn round out the experience with simple, thoughtful ways to enjoy each stay.
