This glass-fronted hotel on Wilshire Boulevard houses an adventurous restaurant by a star chef, and a rooftop pool and lounge with views of the city skyline. The furnishings are of the cool-but-comfortable variety indigenous to L.A.: chocolate brown couches with furry pillows in the lobby, a custom chaise longue in each of the 74 rooms with a little side table you can wheel into exactly the right position, dual rainhead showers and soaking tubs in the bathrooms.
The hotel is in exactly the right spot for maximum city fun. Shopping at The Grove, on Melrose Avenue, or Rodeo drive, LACMA and the Pacific Design Center for some time with the arts, Santa Monica and Venice for beach and boardwalk—all are either a few blocks or a short drive away.
