Inn at Pine Terrace

Transport yourself to a simpler – yet grand – time.

Nestled in the heart of Wisconsin’s Lake Country, you’ll find the charming town of Oconomowoc – and its crown jewel, The Inn at Pine Terrace. This bed and breakfast was built in 1879 by two wagon-builders, and you’ll see their craftsmanship in every detail including intricate floors and hand-carved woodwork.  The original owners modeled the home after a French castle near Vienna. They named their masterpiece “Mon Bijou” or “My Jewel.”  While decidedly European in style, the building was constructed with Wisconsin’s famous cream city brick. At this gem, you'll be transported to a bygone era for the ultimate escape.

A paradise for architecture or history buffs – or those just looking to escape.

What it's like

As you approach The Inn at Pine Terrace, you’ll be struck by the grandeur and architecture of this historic mansion: soaring turrets, crafted dormers, and wrought iron accents (naturally). Make your way through the oversized handcrafted wood doors to arrive in another era. The Victorian styling misses no detail – from period wallpaper, original hinges and hardware, and intricate mahogany furniture. Tour the common areas, including the parlor, library, and the seasonal sunroom with floor-to-ceiling windows. Let the inn keeper, John, show you to your room. Each of the 11 guest rooms has its own distinct style and each has a private bathroom. Stay comfortable all year round: all rooms are individually climate controlled. While your décor is historic, you’ll be delighted by modern amenities, including complimentary high-speed WiFi throughout the mansion.

Grab a coffee and tuck into the parlor, loaded with books about the history of the area, architecture and more. Or settle into the library where you can challenge your travel companion – or a new friend – to a game of chess.
