What it's like
From the moment you turn down the one-lane road leading to the Ponderosa Lodge, you'll be greeted by the soothing sights and sounds of the great outdoors. Surrounded on all sides by the majestic mountains and Ponderosa pines - from which the Lodge takes its name - you'll feel as if you're already in Rocky Mountain National Park. Each accommodation on this expansive property exudes rustic charm while featuring cozy lodgings.
After a long day exploring the Rockies or enjoying everything that the town of Estes Park has to offer, unwind with a soak in the Lodge's 24-hour hot tub. Or take your catch from the day's fishing trip and cook up a feast in the communal BBQ area. Spend the remainder of your evening relaxing by your private fireplace or outdoor firepit, trading stories, and reminiscing about a day well spent.
Eat and drink
The Ponderosa Lodge is less than 10 minutes from the bustling downtown area of Estes Park, where there are plenty of options for every craving. One thing is for sure – you won't go hungry! After chowing down, visit one of the several local breweries or take a trip to the Whiskey Bar at the historic Stanley Hotel to sample Colorado's most expansive selection of whiskeys and single malt scotches. Whatever you're in the mood for, just ask the staff – they'll point you to the best spots in town.
Every room is adorned with original artwork created with love by local artist Cheryl Pennington. Some pieces spotlight local wildlife, while others portray the captivating natural scenery. Every composition pays homage to the truly one-of-a-kind Rocky Mountain Region.
