The Darling Hotel

A boutique hotel inspired by the past. Reimagined for you.

The Darling Hotel in the heart of downtown Visalia — about 45 minutes from Sequoia National Park — is a boutique hotel rising anew from the abandoned former Tulare County courthouse annex. The stately building has been faithfully restored but also reimagined and redesigned to accommodate the tastes, sensibilities, and comforts of the 21st Century patron. You will find tastefully designed room accommodations, open spaces, and larger rooms for special occasions at the Darling Hotel.

This piece of local history invites you to come make new memories.

What it's like

As you approach the bright white, stately three story building, you'll find it hard to believe the building was dilapidated not long ago. Inspired by the opportunity to restore a building with such prominence in the community, a group of local families joined to purchase the property in 2018. Now fully restored and replete with all of the modern comforts, The Darling is the centerpiece of the vibrant Visalia downtown.

Independent spirit

Stay well, leave feeling restored.

Small touches

The Darling Hotel shows off the sleek, stylized beauty of the 1930s, yet it still offers small-town charm. Each room and suite takes inspiration from the Art Deco period and is complemented with the plush furnishings and modern amenities you’ve come to expect from a boutique hotel stay. Vibrant velvet couches, soaring ceilings, and geometric wallpapers create a picture-perfect aesthetic and an inspired stay.

Eat and drink

The Darling is crowned with a rooftop restaurant and lounge, the Elderwood.  Picture yourself enjoying a meal or cocktails while taking in a panoramic view of the Sierra Nevadas or looking down at the vibrant nightlife of downtown Visalia. Enjoy brunch or dinner year round with both indoor and outdoor seating available.
